Nevada Real Time K12 Seismic Network

UNR geologist Ken Smith and UNLV geologist Cathy Snelson are the founders and project directors for this statewide remote sensing project. Participating schools are hosting seismographs that are providing real-time data to the network. Science teachers in participating schools are provide with access to data on the network via the Seismic Explorer software authored by Ken Smith. In collaboration with Snelson and Smith, educators Kent Crippen (UNLV), Pamela Cantrell (UNR-Raggio Center), and Jacque Ewing-Taylor are developing proposals to expand the network, provide professional development for teachers, and study its use an inquiry tool for K-12 science.
