iSAT Explained

Project iSAT was an initiative for collaboration between UNLV faculty and science teachers at Bridger, Monaco, and Robinson middles schools from the Clark County School District. iSAT provided staff development and graduate courses focused on increasing science content knowledge and student achievement in science through the use of instructional technology.

Project Goals:

  • Support twenty-seven middle school science teachers at three traditionally underperforming middle schools with professional development and graduate coursework. Align the graduate coursework with highly qualified requirements for Nevada K-12 science teachers.
  • Develop and strengthen each teacher's technological pedagogical content knowledge.
  • Provide instruction related to strategies and techniques for integrating instructional technology in the new CCSD middle school curriculum.
  • Deliver instruction on-site at the participating middle schools and through computer-based distance learning.
