Participating in the bi-weekly discussion is a requirement for everyone. In addition, certain teachers from our group will be assigned special roles to play within the normal discussion cycle. These roles and their descriptions are listed below.
The idea is to generate a lively and valid discussion of important issues and share resources. The proposer should have the initial question posted by 5:00pm Monday of the bi-weekly cycle. The discussion will end at 5:00pm Friday every two weeks. The wrapper then has until 12:00 pm Sunday to make their posting. Discussion responses will be tallied and will only count if posted in each two week period between Monday at 5:00pm and 5:00pm on the second following Friday.
Proposer - Reads the weekly assignments in advance. Responsible for posting the main discussion question on Monday.
Connector - Focuses on keeping discussion threads, questions, and topics connected into lines of thought. Cleans up after the extender.
Wrapper - Responsible for wrapping up the weekly discussion by posting a synthesis by Sunday evening.
Re-seeder - Responsible for stimulating further discussion by posting new questions where needed.
Extender - Responsible for moving the discussion into interesting areas beyond this course.
